In 1986 when Gary took his leap into a new adventure establishing Williams & Fudge this was a question that was already being answered through the company. All money collected goes back into the school for more kids to borrow so they can get a college degree! Now THAT is good for children!
What if every day, in every activity we do and in every decision we make,
we asked ourselves,
The #1 Question: “Is It Good for the Children?”
In 2007, Rock Hill City Council adopted the #1 Question: Is It Good for the Children campaign, with a goal to further strengthen Rock Hill as a livable city that recognizes the importance of all children and youth in our community. Alice became an early ambassador of the #1 Question committee helping to link this question to Rock Hill, Williams & Fudge, and every aspect of our community.
Campaign Goals:
- To alert our community to the many positive youth resources that exist
- To help our community recognize the impact of the decisions they make daily and how they ultimately affect the children and youth of Rock Hill.
Achieving the Goals:
The City Council, the Commission for Children and Youth, and the Ambassadors for the #1 Question Campaign, utilize the steps below to achieve the goals of the #1 Question:
- Making businesses, governments, educational institutions and the general public aware of the status of children and youth in the Rock Hill area.
- Asking these groups to commit to making the welfare of children, youth and families a priority.
- Demonstrating their commitment through the decisions that they make.
Community Initiatives:
The community as a whole has worked together to develop initiatives that reflect the spirit of The #1 Question.

At Williams & Fudge it is our mission to make sure we think of kids first, not just in securing that money is back so other future college kids can borrow it, but while taking care of each other thinking about employees and their families. We like to play and that includes children in our workplace events many times! If a child is happy, a parent is happy, if a parent is happy it reflects on their work and attitude.
