York County Community Foundation

The York County Community Foundation (YCCF) is a branch of Foundation For The Carolinas based in Charlotte.  (This is where the Williams Family Foundation makes grants requests through Donor Advised Funds (DAF) each year.)

The York County Community Foundation was established in 1988 by local leaders to encourage philanthropy and secure resources to address local issues. The Foundation brings together charitable donors, community leaders and nonprofit organizations to make positive impacts throughout York County, South Carolina.  Gary joined this board in the 1990s while it was still newly formed and served around 20 years.  They raised over $500,000 by 2013 when Alice joined the board allowing over $40,000 in grants to be awarded in York County by the board each year.  Alice served as Chair of this board in 2017 and 2018.

The Foundation has been awarding grants that support a wide variety of projects ranging from education programs to human services to youth initiatives. The Board of Advisors consists of local volunteers who know the community and its citizens’ needs, as well as the nonprofits, congregations and government and educational institutions responding to these needs.

In 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic a small group, including Alice, decided to raise funds for COVID response in York County.  $200,000 was raised and given in large amounts ($5000-$20,000) to non-profits giving immediate relief.
